Goals Post Script
I forgot a goal! But you know, it's kind of a suprise goal. So I need a code word. Hmmmmm. Do the marzipan thing. Code: Marzipan.
Week 15 Recap / Week 16 Goals
I mistakenly gave myself two weeks (plus a day) to accomplish a weeks worth of goals. Eh, it'll happen. Let's see how I did!
Week 15 Goals
1) Make goals (and, done!) haha. - Well, done, obvs.
2) Find another exercise DVD I like as much as 30 day shred that I can switch up with Ms. Jillian. Or it could be another Jillian DVD. Despite having 3 30 day shred workouts I still would like more variety. Plus, Level 1 is already kind of easy. PX90I suppose.
Dudes, I have much bounty in the way of exercise videos. I went a-explorin' on Netflix and came back with a nice catalog of Crunch workouts + a new Jillian. I have 3 versions of Power Yoga/Pilates workouts, a Boot Camp, a Sculpt & Tone, and some Dance, in case I feel a lil crazy (or lazy, those are easy). I look forward to my workouts.
3) Plan a little one day getaway for Mr. Fred and I. Maybe back to the B&B we went to last summer.
I would very much like to do this, but Fred is feeling like his weekend time is a little too plan-y lately, and wants some free time. So free time he shall have. And then later, B&B. October mayhaps?
4) Pull another round of clothes for eBay from the closet - anything I passed up last time with the thought that I might wear it? That I haven't still? Up it goes
I did this yesterday, and one thing already sold. Woot!
Week 16 Goals
1) Identify and make 2 new dinner recipes. I am in a rut.
2) Put together a list of things to accomplish on my week off next week - some pure fun, mostly just catch up on house, etc. Although, I must stress...tis a vacation. So it'll be light on the goals. But you know how you feel better when you have things done and not hanging over your head like oh yeah, look at that box there I need to go through that and throw most of it out, or gosh I really do need some kind of way to store my shoes so I don't end up with huge shoe piles in my room. Those.
3) Keep working out at my current pace, cause it feeels gooood.
Yeah, that's it =)

Week 13 recap / Week 14 Goals
Really, its August? I'm not sure I'm ready for it to be August. I need to take a vacation, immediately. Well at least soon. The week after Labor day, I'm thinking.
So this week was pretty light on the goals..let's see how I did.
Week 13 Goals
1) No processed crap (again)
Done!
2) Daytrip to Richmond
Wasn't feeling Richmond. Went to Middleburg instead.
3) Try to finish the shirt I started sewing (patterns make me stabby!)
Patterns still make me stabby. However, I made my own pattern, for a wrap skirt, busted that thing out in like 3 hours on Friday night, wore it Saturday. I'll call this a success. However, still going to tackle that silly shirt.
And for week 14.
A break from goals! Just a little break. One week only. Don't worry, I'm not going to go all wild and lawless =)
edit: almost forgot, I have to make a "going somewhere" goal. I think I need a free going somewhere goal, so I'm going to make it a day at Great Falls. its been too long!

Good Monday morning! Still hot.
Week 12 Goals
1) No processed crap from the work kitchen at all! (this is a goal I've used in the past, and a good reminder to take my happy ass to the whole foods for a salad if I'm hungry)
Done, a success, woohoo!
2) Its supposed to be eleventybillion this week outside, so I'm gonna say take it to the gym x 3
Done!
3) Go on a daytrip down to Richmond (Carytown)
Tooo hot. Next weekend?
4) Finish the quilt!
Done!

inspiration from an unlikely place
I just hit on a bit of a treasure trove of old pictures. and I found this one (yes, there is someone holding up the other end of the door, Dana). I was 29 in this picture, so its just about 4 years ago, I think. This, for whatever reason, captures my goal weight. Weird, huh? So here it is, my goal.

Its not that far off. Its me, which helps. It is not my goal, however, to start stealing doors OR playing beer pong on said doors again. Although I weighed much less when I drank often. Hmmmmm. No.

Week 11 recap / Week 12 Goals
Morning! Its that time again for see what Sara didn't do this week! I kid, I kid. I did pretty decently this week.
One thing I talked about this week, and re-focused on, was my need to go outside my comfort zone! I need to start taking trips again. Small at first, and then longer and further away. So, this week, I went to DC. This doesn't really count, I do this all the time and live 13 miles away. But each week, I will be including a travel goal. It may be small, it may be the same for a couple of weeks at a time (I can't afford to travel every weekend, nor do I want to!). So there's that.
Here's how I did:
Week 11 Goals
1) Run outside at least 2 mornings - yeah, just once.
2) Take some time to relax and explore some thrift stores
this weekend! - farmers market/flea market, but same concept. Complete!
3) I have a very important appointment on Thursday - I'm taking the day off of work, but work is also crazy busy right now - I need to make sure my mind is only in one place at once!
I think I did successfully drag focus away from work for the first half of Thursday. Attention was paid to the appointment.
4) Get back on this 30 for 30 train, man am I a dirty cheater! And done. Under the wire.
5) Go on a date with Fred =) Yeah, he didn't want to go out for a beer. So we had steaks and deliciousness for dinner instead, and watched a movie. Was nice. I still want to go out for a beer (and I don't drink)...but its summer! Nothing better than a summer night. This weekend!

Week 10 Recap / Week 11 Goals
Here we are again, again! Time to look at my progress last week and set some new goals. The weeks are just flying by right now! I may give myself the same bigger goals 2 weeks in a row, as sometimes 1 week just isn't enough!
1) Finish unpacking and organizing my sewing room/office/guest room / I don't know what it is now.
I spent a LOT of time working in this room this week (tackling a big project), and I decided that I need more room. Which means more storage solutions/shelving. So now i'm looking into that. At least its a very functional room if not quite finished!
2) Spend a couple of hours on the garden. There are a lot of things growing that I suspect are weeds. Need to trim back the azaleas and stop the mint from taking over the planet.
I did this all day Saturday, and I was actually super sore on Sunday! From gardening! And the garden is looking much better.
3) Get a proper camera set up for pictures for this here blog!
I ordered my tripod woo! I'll play with it this weekend!

Week 9 Recap / Week 10 Goals!
Into week 10 already! Woohoo!
Here's how I did last week:
1) Take 3 long walks! And practice doing pull-ups!
I did a walk and a run along the same route, with the pull-ups thing. 1 run counts as 2 walks, right? I am running in the mornings now. Which is the only time when its this hot that I can! Unless it rains - I love to run, or do anything outside, right after a rain.
2) Do the damn book thing
I didn't do the damn book thing. Perhaps I want the books.
3) Put this concept into place at work. Goals each week.
I did research into two things a few things. A couple of university cert programs / grad school programs, as well as a professional certification program that is a 9 class deal that I have 1 class completed for. They all cost money, of course. I have to decide where I want to put my money and where makes the most sense in terms of credentials for my next step.
4) Do some soul searching about work. I know where I think I want my career to go - time to put an action plan in place. Actually, this one first, then #3.
See number 3. I need additional education if I really want to take my career where I want it - that means grad school. Research in progress.
5) Plan a vacation for early September (week after Labor Day)
Tentatively planning for the beach! Just need to find me a beach house to rent.
Here are my Goals for Week 10! A little same, a little different this week.
1) Finish unpacking and organizing my sewing room/office/guest room / I don't know what it is now.
2) Spend a couple of hours on the garden. There are a lot of things growing that I suspect are weeds. Need to trim back the azaleas and stop the mint from taking over the planet.

Week 7 Recap / Week 8 Goals
Time to take measure of the goals of last week, week 7 in this little improvement project. Here we go!
Goal #1 - Survive medication adjustment with minimal interferance into daily life (I mean, really, if I do that and only that, I'm happy)
I did survive, with minimal interference. despite feeling like I was going right out of my mind on Monday, I soldiered through. Felt better on Tuesday. Felt worse on Wednesday physically but better mentally. Thursday? Pretty much right as rain again. And now I've started adjustment stage #2, oh joy.
#2 - Take a long walk
I did take a couple of long walks. I saw a whole 6 bunnies on my walk on Saturday AND discovered that I have one of those walking paths with exercise stations - you know which ones I mean? - about 1/4 mile from my house. And one of them has bars, which I enjoy because 1) I can try to do pull-ups, because that! that is a goal! do a pull up! I have a weird fascination with wanting to be able to knock out 10 pull ups like it isn't a big deal. Also, 2) It allows me to practice the very elementary level of gymnastics skills that I still possess. When I was a gymnast, bars were probably my favorite. Or beam. Or floor. Not vault though.
#3 - Finish unpacking all my books - set some aside for donation (read: those I've inherited in random ways that I won't ever read, like how did those Clive Cusslers make their way in, huh? How did that happen?)
I didn't do this one, wah wah. um, i have no excuse.
Okay! Week 8 goals!
1) Take 3 long walks! And practice doing pull-ups!
2) Do the damn book thing
3) Put this concept into place at work. Goals each week.
4) Do some soul searching about work. I know where I think I want my career to go - time to put an action plan in place. Actually, this one first, then #3.

Week 6 Recap / Week 7 Goals
Well hello again. Time to take a look at how I did against my week 6 goals. If you'll remember, this is what I said I'd do this week:
1) Go to the gym 3 times.
I went to the gym twice and ran twice. If I put go to the gym on here, I seem to choose running, if I put running on here, I seem to choose the gym. Because I am stubborn and ornery. Either way, its helping me to get my exercise in, so yay!
2) No processed crap.
I'm still eating based on the guidelines I set for myself 2 weeks ago, so no processed crap. Except for today, see: feeling like crap. I don't have an appetite right now, but if I don't eat, I'll feel worse, so I eat whatever is easy. So far today that has been a water, some chips ahoy, and some oatmeal. Don't worry, I'll be back to normal right quick. I tend to take it a litte easy on myself when I'm feeling like this and I'm okay with that.
3) Really, don't buy any clothes. Just don't. Do not.
I didn't buy clothes. Seriously. I have to think about it to make sure, true, but I did not. Oh wait, I did. I bought running shorts, haha. I could not put up a strong enough fight. But I've worn them twice to go running, and really, that makes them worth it. Exercise clothes should get their own category anyway.
Also..
4) Look at my budget and establish new short and long-term savings goals (I HATE budgeting, but I need to look at this again)
I set myself a budget for non-essentials, which is leniant enough that I can stick to it, but still keeps me on a good saving path. I need to build up 6 months expenses in my savings, that's my new goal. Up to this point, I've been more focused on my retirement account, but I believe I need to also have a good cushion of savings, a safety net.
5) Wear my hair down at least twice. I've gotten stuck in a hair rut
I wore my hair down once. I call this a win, considering it was ridiculously hot and humid last week.
So all in all, I did okay.
For Week 7, I'm going to change it up a bit.
Goal #1 - Survive medication adjustment with minimal interferance into daily life (I mean, really, if I do that and only that, I'm happy)
#2 - Take a long walk
#3 - Finish unpacking all my books - set some aside for donation (read: those I've inherited in random ways that I won't ever read, like how did those Clive Cusslers make their way in, huh? How did that happen?)
I think that's it for this week.

Week 5 Recap / Week 6 Goals
After a dismal week 4 showing, I made it easy on myself for week 5. Let's see how I did.
1) Go to the gym 3 times.
I went twice. I'm usually a 4-5 days a week go-er, I just kind of fell out of habit with the twisting of the ankle and the falling down the stairs. My bruises are healed, time to pick it back up.
I am going to change up my gym routine a little though. I usually do a long cardio stint (30-40 minutes) followed by a weight circuit, followed by 10-15 minutes of walking or slow jogging. This week, I'm going to do my weights first.
2) No processed crap.
I did it! I mean, I ate the catered delicious food from Tuesday night and the leftovers on Wednesday, but none of the cookies/ding dongs/chips/random crap that we have available in our kitchen. That stuff isn't even good, its just there.
I posted about a new approach to diet here, and I have been following this since Wednesday night. I feel pretty darn good!
3) Really, don't buy any clothes. Just don't. Do not.
I didn't buy any new clothes. I bought one vintage item with a thrift store credit. No money exchanged. Yay!! This is HUGE for me, you have no idea.
On to week 6!
I like these goals, I'm doing them again.
1) Go to the gym 3 times.
2) No processed crap.
3) Really, don't buy any clothes. Just don't. Do not.
Also..
4) Look at my budget and establish new short and long-term savings goals (I HATE budgeting, but I need to look at this again)
5) Wear my hair down at least twice. I've gotten stuck in a hair rut.
Should be a great week!

Goals! Week 4 Recap / Week 5
Well, last week was...not productive. Here goes, progress against Week 4
1) That processed crap one again
I ate some Chips Ahoy. Because they were there. Just one occurance though.
2) Finish decorating the office
I put my rug down, refinished my chair, cleaned up the sewing area. Still waiting for my new couch/bed thing from Target.
3) Run. Run Run Run. Commence with running. 3 times.
Uhhh no. First, I fell down some stairs. Then, it became 90 bazillion degrees. Back to the gym, as long as the weather is like this.
4) Try to write a short story.
I didn't. But I did paint, so can I trade one creative category for another?
5) Don't buy ANYTHING that is not a cigarette, from starbucks or essential to comfortable survival. Mean it.
Yeah, again, no. I went to Anthropologie. Bad idea.
6) Really, wow, ok. Don't go to starbucks. Shock the monkey.
I didn't go to Starbucks the day after I wrote this! But then I went back. Because I am addicted. Weird fact here? I don't drink caffeine. At all. I'm actually addicted to Decaf Soy Sugar Free Hazlenut Mistos. WTF.
I honor of my complete fail, I thought I'd make Week 5 a little bit of a confidence booster week. Simple. Easy.
1) Go to the gym 3 times.
2) No processed crap.
3) Really, don't buy any clothes. Just don't. Do not.
Ok! That's not so bad. I can do that. These 3 can just be my goals every week, and if I succeed at just these 3, I will be accomplishing more goals than you can know.

Week 3 Progress / Week 4 Goals
Well then! Yes, with the ow and the ow. Progress report time!
Week 3 Progress:
1) Were gonna stay onboard with that "don't eat any of that processed packaged crap available to you at work" theme - seems to be a good reminder.
It was not packaged, and probably not processed in the manner of which I speak, but the Service Desk hosted a thing with cupcakes from the local bakery and I had a cannoli one. As in, vanilla with almond and cannoli filling and whipped cream icing with mini chocolate chips, oh dear god. But that's it! So that's good.
2) Finish decorating the master bedroom and my office
I am 90% done with the master and 10% done with the office. So that is good, too.
3) Get that dang pedicure.
Yeah, I bought a thing, like a piece of furniture, with the expensiveness, although really quite cheap for furniture (thanks Target for blatently copying Crate and Barrell, love you mean it), but the pedicure costs suddenly seemed extravagant. So I painted my own toenails Revlon Red. And then I smudged them. And repainted them. And then when I fell this morning I scraped it off again. And I will repaint them tonight.
But see! If I had spent money on a pedicure I would have felt WORSE scraping it off this morning, while now I am merely annoyed. And with the ow-ing.
Yayyyyy Week 4!

Week 2 Report / Week 3 Goals
My report on Week 2 is just SAD, because I twisted my ankle on Tuesday morning. In the parking lot of Safeway. Fell right on my ass. It was awesome.
So..no running. No pedicure.
Run outside 3 times this week BEFORE WORK. - See above, Fail.
Again, don't eat any of that processed packaged crap available to you at work. - Ding ding ding!! Did good here this week! No processed crap!
Go through closet and dresser and select items for ebay/goodwill. post ebay items. - Winner winner again! I did this too. I've got 6 blouses up on ebay right now if you are at all curious..
Don't buy anything except food, gas, and household items(this would mean TP, not art or chair)...(and pedicure). - And again, pretty good! I bought 20 records, at $1 a piece, and the thrift store. I don't count those.
Get a pedicure. - See above, Fail.

Week 1 report / Week 2
Progress against my week 1 goals:
Don't eat any of the processed packaged crap available to you at work - only ate one processed packaged crap item all week, during a stress-fest of a Friday morning. Felt terribly guilty about it.
Run outside 3 times this week - cpmplete fail, have gotten out of running habit due to gym-going all winter. I don't know whether to run in the morning or evening so did neither. This week - morning. Its a good wake up and the weather is pretty and cool in the morning.
Listen to the whole Beastie Boys album in one sitting - almost done, I got through all but 2 tracks.
Kick ass at that thing you have to do on Tuesday - I think I did - still pending results.
Okay, so, not wonderful on last week's goals, not horrible. Time to set goals for Week 2!
